"Timbalero King"

New York City is often called the Capital of the World, but for those who love Afro-Caribbean music it is known as the Salsa Capital of the World.Tito Puente el Rey de la Salsa, died on June 1, 2000 at the age of 77. He has had five Grammy's, 118 records and CD's. He lived his childhood in Spanish Harlem, "El Barrio", served in the Navy during World War II, after which he studied at the prestigious Julliard School of Music. His musical contribution is combining Latin and Jazz. This is just a sample of the Stars that shine in the big apple, Tito Puente el Timbalero Mayor rest in peace.
